STOP BRINGING ME PROBLEMS

After 15+ years in the corporate trenches, especially since stepping into management, I’ve noticed one tiny detail that separates the leaders from the laggards.

When a problem hits the fan, most people are world-class at one thing: Pointing it out. They describe the mess, usually with a side of complaining. A small percentage of people go a step further—they bring a solution. But the true game-changers? They don’t stop at one. If their first idea gets shot down, they’ve already got Plan B and Plan C ready to go.

Here’s the cold, hard truth from my observation: Those who bring solutions are the ones who climb the ladder at light speed. Why? Because they aren’t just solving their own problems; they are solving their manager’s problems. That is a high-value skill that no AI or algorithm can easily replace.

Build the “Solution Habit”

Try this: Make it your default setting to always bring a solution.

Don’t worry about being “perfect.” In the heat of a crisis, a “good enough” solution is a hundred times better than a perfect complaint. More importantly, when you force yourself to find answers, you’re training your brain to work for you. Work stops being a “soul-crushing burden” and starts becoming an interesting puzzle.

At the end of the day, don’t get too hung up on being right or wrong. The real win is finding joy in creating value—making life better for yourself and the people around you.

Go out there, be the person who gets things done, and enjoy the ride.
