What Am I Truly Afraid Of?

The office? It was a pressure cooker. I was terrified of becoming obsolete—a “system error” in a world that only rewards the latest update.

Switching jobs? The fear of the unknown kept me paralyzed.

Quitting to find myself? The ghost of an empty bank account haunted every thought.

I was drowning in a loop of endless anxiety, a victim of my own “what-ifs.”

Until one day, a single thought from Professor Nguyen Phong’s Many Lives, Many Times broke the cycle:

“Life doesn’t end here. This isn’t your only round. You have more chances, more lives to fix what you couldn’t finish today.”

I stopped debating the “truth” of it and simply used it as a spark. I stepped into a journey of self-discovery, learning to dismantle my fears piece by piece.

I began to redesign my life. Not through grand gestures, but through the raw power of habitual discipline:

  • 1,000 kilometers of pavement pounded every year.
  • 1,000 lines of investment logic journaled every month.
  • 1,000 consecutive days wrestling with a new language.

Simple numbers. Things anyone could do, but most won’t.

The result? The fear is gone. In its place is a profound gratitude for the “grind.” I’m thankful for my colleagues and even the “disasters” that once made me feel like the unluckiest person alive.

Those trials were the forge. They made me resilient, fluid, and calm enough to welcome any crisis as just another “interesting moment” to look back on years from now. Whatever happens, happens. And it’s all part of the trip.

How about you? Are you ready to stare down your fears and design a life worth living?

The journey starts today. Just move.

In our journey to “sail the high seas” of the global market, we often obsess over success formulas, management secrets, or cultural nuances to adapt.
